With Jumanji the latest movie to be getting the redo treatment, Deadline has word that Nick Jonas is in talks to join the film in a lead role.

The musician-cum-actor is likely best to known to audiences for a host of Disney efforts and also for turning up in VH1’s Scream Queens. No details are known just yet on what role the 23-year-old is in talks for, but should he sign on then he’ll join a cast that currently includes Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black.

Early reports claim that this new Jumanji will pull more directly from the 1985 source material rather than the 1995 movie. Chris Van Allsburg’s children’s book was, of course, famously turned into a Robin Williams-starring film, with the basic premise of both centering on a magical board game that leads to an American suburb being invaded by a host of plants and animals from the jungle.

Bad Teacher and Sex Tape’s Jake Kasdan is the man tasked with helming this redo, with High Fidelity’s Scott Rosenberg having penned the screenplay.

At present, Jumanji is slated for a July 28th, 2017 release.
