Next RESIDENT EVIL Movie to Definitely be FINAL

When does final not mean final? Well that’d be in the realm of cinema.

From Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (there’d be six films to follow this, plus a crossover and a reboot, not to mention another reworking on the way) to Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (this would be followed by one more movie, the same aforementioned crossover and, yes, a reboot, plus another remake on the way) and a whole host in between, so often in cinema the term final has been used loosely at best.

So when the upcoming sixth Resident Evil movie was subtitled The Final Chapter, many an eye was rolled. According to Ali Larter, the franchise’s Claire Redfield, final apparently definitely means final this time.

When asked as to whether this next movie really would be the last in the RE franchise, Larter told IGN, “I know it is. We are not allowed to say one thing. I am held to secrecy, but what I can tell you is that the script is amazing. They’re really wrapping up the whole series, so that just makes it a little more poignant. To be able to come back and reprise my role as Claire and my relationship with Alice, with Umbrella Corp. – you know, I’m excited to get back in it. I think the fans are just going to be beyond excited.”

Production on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set to start in South Africa later this month. As well as Larter returning as fan favourite Claire Redfield, franchise mainstay Milla Jovovich is back as Alice and Wentworth Miller is reprising the role of another fan favourite, Chris Redfield. Paul W.S. Anderson is again back to direct.

No release date has been firmed up for The Final Chapter as of yet, although the franchise itself has brought in over $900 million to date – meaning it wouldn’t surprise us if this “final chapter” turned out to be not all that final if it does well at the box office.
