While recent talk of a new X-FILES movie might seem wishful-thinking after the woeful (but warranted) reaction to 2008’s attempt to restart the franchise with X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE, fans can at least look forward to a brand new show from series creator Chris Carter.

Details surrounding the show are scant at the time of writing, so all we’ve currently got to go on is that it’s a lady-driven action series, the pilot of which will see Carter write, direct and executive produce before settling into showrunner duties should it get commissioned for a full season. More information on the mysterious series will emerge in the coming weeks, so we’ll keep you guys in the loop.

Here’s hoping he’s learnt his lesson from his 9 year run on the X-FILES and holds back on introducing plot threads he has no idea how to finish.
