Bits n’bobs from this week’s genre news…
* Edgar Wright has confirmed that his ANT MAN script for Marvel Studios is finally complete! Now that’s out of the way, he’ll be cracking on with best mate Simon Pegg on their follow-up movie to SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ. Tentative title – WORLD’S END. What’s it about? They’re still keeping schtum. Fair play.
* Comic company have IDW have announced that they’ll be re-launching THE CROW as an ongoing series in 2012. Just in time for that big-screen reboot?
* I’ll admit it. I’ve given up on my daily dwarf updates, it was too exhausting to keep on top of, so I’m just going to dump this here instead. Presenting – all THE HOBBIT’s dwarves together for the very first time!
* Meanwhile… Peter Jackson has teased that he’s currently mulling a return to the horror genre after this trip to Middle Earth. Yeah, yeah, Pete – you’ve been talking up your sequel to BAD TASTE for years, no way you’re going to risk your post-BRAINDEAD fanbase. I often wonder what happens when older LORD OF THE RINGS fans dig into Jackson’s back catalogue – “Oooo, MEET THE FEEBLES, I wonder what that’s about?”
* SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIME SERIES is on its way. Anyone care? Thought not.
* Helena Bonham Cater set to saddle up for Gore Verbinski’s THE LONE RANGER. Not literally. Just sounded good. But she’s in it. Anyway. See the Johnny Depp / Disney re-imagining December 21st 2012.
* We promised you a better look at Neca’s EVIL DEAD 2 toy line as soon as we got some more detailed shot. So we went and found some more detailed shots! Start saving those pennies, you’re going to want them all!
* Stephen King’s BAG OF BONES is getting a small-screen adaptation. The four-part mini-series will star Pierce Brosnan (MAMA MIA) about a bloke struggling to cope with the sudden death of his wife. I think. Yeah, alright, I’ve never read it – but I’m betting more than a few of you have. Hear this King fella’s quite popular. The A&E network will air it stateside later this year. Expect a UK channel to pick it up shortly after.

Well Activision, makers of the upcoming videogame GOLDENEYE 007: RELOADED don’t. Or don’t care, one of the two. The game, which is an update on the classic N64 title from way back, will now feature Daniel Craig’s Bond instead. Quite a slap in the face if you ask me.

* Finally! GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE synopsis now in! Over to those CRANK boys Nevildine & Taylor: “Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, is hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.” Can they make up for that abysmal first entry? We’ll see for ourselves February 2012.
