Several weeks ahead of its debut amongst the THOR DVD/Blu-ray Special Features, Marvel’s first in a planned series of short films set in their Movieverse, has hit the web.

As you might recall we were initially very excited by the prospect of Marvel using these shorts as testing grounds for lesser known heroes and villains, but were soon disappointed to learn that the first two would feature only Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. That said, we were impressed with the snippet of footage we previewed a few weeks back – it seemed well written and acted, and didn’t have that distinctive webisode feel you sometimes get with ventures like these.

Before we get into what we thought, watch the completed short HERE (yeah, we’re having a few problems hosting this one.)

Not what we were expecting at all. For a film just under 4 minutes they sure used a hell of a lot of existing footage. However, the writing and dialogue lived up to the early promise, and I think I might actually be finally be coming around to Agent Coulson – even in these 4 minutes he seems to pack in more character than all the screentime he’s had over 5 movies.

The next Marvel One-Shot, SOMETHING FUNNY HAPPENED TO ME ON THE WAY TO THOR’S HAMMER, is once again S.H.I.E.L.D.-centric, and will further bridge the gaps between the existing movies and next summer’s THE AVENGERS.

THOR is released on DVD/Blu-ray on September 26th.
