It’s been in development for some time now, but seems Warner Bros. have finally settled on their director of choice to bring Stephen King’s acclaimed novel to the big-screen.

Step forward Ben Affleck.

Say whaaaa? Actually it’s not that mad – while Mr Affleck carries his fair share of celebrity baggage, it’s easy to forget that the actor has long put his former career on the back-burner and moved behind the camera, batting two for two with critical darlings GONE BABY GONE and THE TOWN. Oh, and his first short film I KILLED MY LESBIAN LOVER, HUNG HER ON A MEAT HOOK, AND NOW I HAVE A THREE PICTURE DEAL AT DISNEY back in 1993 also enjoyed some rave reviews. But I can’t vouch for that one.

Affleck replaces the previously reported director David Yates, but his HARRY POTTER screenwriter Steve Kloves currently remains on board the project.

More news as we get it.
