Extra bits n’ bobs from this week’s genre news!

* Remember when we were promised a ZOMBIELAND 2 shortly after the release of the 2009 original? Wondering what the status is? Let’s ask star Jesse E

isenberg:“They’re writing the script right now but I haven’t seen it and I suspect the longer we wait, the less relevant it will be. All the actors would love to do it and the director would love to do it but I’m not sure what’s happening.” Translated: don’t hold your breath.

* Didn’t you just love the Take That track that played over the X-MEN: FIRST CLASS end credits? Brilliant, wasn’t it! Nailed the tone. Well good news – they will also provide one for Paul Anderson’s upcoming THREE MUSKETEERS reboot! Awesome. (Though to be honest, that will probably prove the least of that film’s problems).

* Gearbox Software have announced their upcoming videogame ALIENS: COLONIAL MARINES will be a “direct sequel” to Cameron’s 1986 classic. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle have been hired to write. Canonical videogames seems to be a trend at the moment – check out our STAR TREK sequel news if you haven’t already.

* Director Victor Salva says a JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 is in the works. Maybe another busload of shirtless teenage boys can break down in the middle of nowhere. Way to be subtle, Salva.

* BOXING HELENA director (and daughter of David) Jennifer Lynch is set to bring us RABBIT, the story of a young child who’s abducted by a serial killer and raised as his son. Sounds cheery! Let’s hope it’s better than her last movie, the pseudo-Bollywood horror flick HISSS, which didn’t go down too well on a recent episode the Starburst Radio Show.

* Here’s the first set pic from MEN IN THE BLACK 3! Oooo, it’s… General Grievous’s bike thingy?

* PERCY JACKSON & THE LIGHTNING THIEF star Alexandra Daddario joins Bill Moseley as one of the first to be cast in Twisted Picture’s upcoming TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE sequel… reboot… thing. Nope, we still don’t know for sure what this thing is.

* Image Comics UNDYING LOVE is heading for a big-screen adaptation courtesy of Warner Bros. What attracted them to the property? It’s about vampires. Nuff said.

* Speaking of vampires (and the studios desperation to bring us as many films about them as humanly possible!) – here’s a first look at VAMPS, Amy Heckerling’s (CLUELESS) upcoming romcom about two affluent, female creatures of the night who fall for the same (mortal) guy. Alicia Silverstone (she still acts?!), Krysten Ritter (TWILIGHT), and the legendary Sigourney Weaver star. Will it be as rubbish as it sounds? Find out later this year.

* Rejoice! It’s officially happening – Guillermo Del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM has a start date! The countdown to the Monsters vs. Mechas movie begins October 31st.

* According to some random Twitter dude, Adam West has been spotted in the vicinity of the DARK KNIGHT RISES set. Movie sites across the globe are abuzz with rumours that he may be cameoing in the movie, Stan Lee style! Seriously, guys? Do you really think Christopher Nolan would threaten the credibility of his trilogy? Sorry folks – never gonna happen.
