UPDATED WITH CONFIRMATION FROM SONY!

Guess we can put this story to bed. Our ace tech-guy Jim – so frustrated was he at the is-it-real-is-it-not controversy – emailed Sony themselves for confirmation. And they took time out from their war on cyber-terrorists to throw us a quick reply:

“Not only is the poster you reference a fake, the creative quality is so poor it is hard to understand why anyone would believe it is real.

Sorted. Cheers, guys! Sorry to ever doubt you.

We feel a bit bad now.

Here’s our previous story. Probably not worth reading now to be honest. Or is it? No. But the comments section contains some fun stuff!

Exciting news! Sony today unveiled their teaser poster for one of 2012’s most eagerly-awaited superhero flicks THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

Ok, brace yourselves web-heads, here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

TA-DAAAAA!

Oh.

Seriously, Sony? That’s the best you can do?! Maybe all divisions were too busy getting the PSN back online they had to get Billy Intern to knock it up in photoshop on his lunchbreak.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is directed by 500 DAYS OF SUMMER director Marc Webb (who I’m convinced only landed the gig based on his pun-tastic name, the same way Ang Lee was hired to direct HULK*.) The impressive cast includes British actor Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Ben & May Parker, and Rhys Ifans as The Lizard.

*You wouldn’t like me when I’m Ang Lee. Geddit? C’mon, they must have been considering all the headline opportunities.

Worst poster EVER?! How do feel about them starting over after three immensely popular movies? Let us know with your comments below!
