Now this is getting silly…

Seems that post-next year’s THE AVENGERS, Marvel Studios might be giving us yet another incarnation of THE HULK.

According to ubiquitous filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro, he and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA executive producer David Eick have been given the green light by network AMC (home of THE WALKING D

EAD) to develop their new live-action TV show based on the iconic cha

racter.

And no, it won’t be the version audiences saw back in ’03 with Ang Lee’s HULK, nor Edward Norton’s THE INCREDIBLE HULK five years later, or even the one played by Mark Ruffolo we’ll all be watching next summer. “We’re going to do this thing different,” Del Toro told reporters recently, “or we wouldn’t be doing it at all.” Oh.

I know the central theme of The Hulk is split-personality, but this is ridiculous.

It’s obviously early days yet, but given how passionate Del Toro seems to be about the project (he first pitched it back in ’10), expect it to reach Pilot stage at the very least, if not a full series come late 2012. Will this mark the fastest turnaround for a reboot yet?

Would you guys be up for more of the not-so-Jolly Green Giant, or are you all Hulk-ed out? Let us know with your comments below!
