Turns out the red underwear won’t be the only thing missing from currently-shooting MAN OF STEEL. There’s now no Julia Ormond either. Details of the last-minute casting switcheroo are none existent at the time of writing, but the star will no longer appear as Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s biological mother.

Not to worry, Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer has already stepped in to save the day. Who she? Anyone see ANGELS & DEMONS? No? Ok, bad example. How about VANTAGE POINT? *crickets* Errrrm, MUNICH? There we go.

Zurer joins Henry Cavill as Clark/Supes, Amy Adams as Lois, Russel Crowe as Jor-El, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.

Christopher Nolan himself is on production duties which should go a long way balancing out Warner Bros’ choice of director – the much maligned (unfairly so in my book) Zack Snyder.

The MAN OF STEEL will fly into cinemas June 14th 2013.

Any Ormond fans out there upset by this re-casting? Or is Zurer the way to go? Not fussed either way? Share your thoughts with fellow readers in the Comments below or on Twitter @Starburst_Mag
