Fresh from the sci-fi success of REAL STEEL, director Shawn Levy is looking around for his next project. According to Deadline it could well be a spec script written by Mike Vukadinovich entitled THE THREE MISFORTUNES OF GEPPETTO.

Levy will produce this through his production company 21 Laps. The script has been compared to BIG FISH and THE PRINCESS BRIDE by those in the know and tells the tale of Pinocchio’s creator; Geppetto who endures all manner of bad luck to be with his one true love.

The prequel to the original Pinocchio joins a sci-fi Frankenstein film as well as The Hardy Men on Levy’s to do list. It seems now is the time to dust off your spec script based on an existing property. Trust me, with Hollywood not wanting to take on too much of a risk and wanting to stay with known properties, that Moomins prequel screenplay you wrote all about Snuffkin’s failed musical career when you were eight is gold dust!
