Last week the screenwriter of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER Christopher Markus talked about his plans to return the hero back to his WWII setting in future sequels. But what else has he got planned for the further adventures of Cap and Co.? Talking with the LA Times recently, he announced his dream nemesis for the Super Soldier. This fella…

“I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK!”, Markus told them.

MODOK (or ‘Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing’ to his mates) has butted heads with Steve Rogers many times throughout the hero’s history, crossing paths with him for the first time in CAPTAIN AMERICA #112 back in 1969.

And Markus has already got it all figured out in terms of how to represent the villain on screen…

“I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK. If he came around the corner and you saw him floating there you would be terrified. It would be amazing.”

You know what, I’m putting my neck out and siding with Markus on this one – I’d love to see this character on film, no matter how outlandish he is. Will general audiences accept it after embracing the first movie so wholeheartedly? Probably not. Will the GAME OF THRONES actor Peter Dinklage take offense at the writer’s casting suggestion?

Yeah, I’d say that’s highly likely.

But what say Markus’s bosses, Marvel Studios themselves?

“Nobody seems to be on my side at the moment.”

Ah.

Should Markus keep trying, or is MODOK stretching the credibility of the Marvel Movieverse?

CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 is scheduled for release in the summer of 2014. With or without MODOK. Or Dinklage.
