Director Robert Rodriguez has announced that the long awaited sequel to 2005’s SIN CITY is finally moving forward. The multi-talented filmmaker revealed that Frank Miller – creator of the original comic-book, but you knew that already – has completed a screenplay encompassing his earlier story arc A DAME TO KILL FOR, alongside two brand new stories (one of which is currently known as THE LONG BAD NIGHT). No news as to who will return for the sequel as of yet, but Rodriguez says the project could go before cameras as soon as later this year.

Not content with that bombshell, Rodriguez has also revealed that he plans to make good on his promise that Danny Trejo will once again reprise his role as Machete – for MACHETE KILLS and MACHETE KILLS AGAIN… IN SPACE have both been greenlit. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t at all impressed with the GRINDHOUSE spin-off (see HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN to see how it’s done properly) but I must say, just adding the words ‘… IN SPACE’ to the proposed third entry has totally sold me. Inspired!

It’s early days yet for all of the above, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop!

Up for a second trip to SIN CITY, or have Rodriguez and Miller taken too long to deliver? And how about MACHETE, did it work better as just a faux-trailer? Let us know with your comments below!
