With all the ongoing hoopla involving Sony and their battle with cyber-terrorists, this news couldn’t come at a more appropriate time…

Starburst has just learnt that the 1983 Matthew Broderick classic WARGAMES is the latest in a loooooooooong line of beloved flicks from our childhood to be given the remake treatment.

Seth Gordon – director of the dynamite Donkey Kong documentary KING OF KONG: A FISTFUL OF QUARTERS – has signed to helm the flick for MGM.

Oddly, we’re not experiencing the same levels of rage these announcements usually garner… controversial as this may sound, could it be that this property would actually benefit from an update? Or maybe we’ve just been so bombarded with remakes and reboots lately we no longer have the energy to muster any vitriol.

OR, perhaps it’s the KING OF KONG love clouding our judgment. Yeah, we’ll go with that one. Seriously guys, you have to see this movie…

And I guess it would be rude not to give the WARGAMES trailer a little love…

Just reminded me that I need to see that movie again very soon.

We’ll keep you updated on all further developments as usual, stay tuned.

What do you guys think – game on, or game over? That doesn’t make much sense, sounded better in my head. Oh! Here’s a question – is there a movie out there that you’d actually ‘like’ to see get the remake treatment? I’ve got a few, how about you?
