Emma Stone sure likes her living dead. The ZOMBIELAND actress has landed the much sought after role of Elizabeth Bennett, lead character in the upcoming PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES.

The movie is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s best-selling novel, which basically takes Jane Austen’s celebrated prose and, as the title may allude, chucks some zombies into the mix. It’s an original idea (make that ‘was’ an original idea given the amount of copycat books that have hit since its ’09 debut) and ripe for a movie adaptation. That is if audiences aren’t suffering zombie fatigue by then (much as I love the genre, I’m getting a little weary myself to be honest).

Wielding the megaphone will be Craig Gillespie, director of the ace looking FRIGHT NIGHT hitting later this year. He’s brought along the writer of said movie – the excellent Marti Noxon, Joss Whedon’s right hand woman on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER – to help Seth Grahame-Smith with the screenplay. No word as yet on whether Austen will be brought in to collaborate.

Emma Stone can next be seen in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN as Peter Parker’s love interest Gwen Stacy.

Read the book? Is Seth Grahame-Smith as lazy as he sounds? Let us know with your comments below!
