Capcom have confirmed that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is to be made into a live-action film. Yay…..   but wait, it’s being helmed by none other than Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer, Thirteen Assassins and about a million other films – when does this guy sleep?).

In a move that will please George Takei (check out the Akira re-imagining of its Asian roots) the Superstar Attorney of the Nintendo DS is to be played by Hiroki Narimiya whilst his nemesis Miles Edgeworth is to portrayed by Takumi Saito The main cast is rounded off by Mirei Kiritani who plays Phoenix’s spirit-medium/assistant Maya Fey.

I must admit I’m struggling to see how this is going to translate to the screen but I am mightily intrigued. Who knows, it may be brilliant, if only for the live-action interpretation of the crazy expressions and physical manifestations of a “hit” or “miss” in the game world, and of course the now legendary OBJECTION!!

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney – The Movie (Working Title) is scheduled for a Spring 2012 release.
