As Warner Brothers’ DC Cinematic Universe gets set to be kicked into gear in March with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of several heroes to be introduced in that film will be Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. After that, the King of Atlantis will swim off for his own 2018 adventure, and now some news is coming out on who will be the villain of that film.

JoBlo reports that the main rogue of James Wan’s Aquaman will be Ocean Master, the brother of the titular hero. Part of the rationale behind that is down to The WB seeing this movie as essentially their version of Thor, with the battling brothers dynamic a key part of this.

Additionally, it’s believed that Mera, Aquaman’s wife, will also be present in the film and will be portrayed similarly to how Furiosa was in this year’s Mad Max: Fury Road. That means she’ll be a strong female character who doesn’t necessarily rely on Aquaman to fight her battles.

As mentioned, the King of Atlantis will make his cinematic bow in a small Batman v Superman role before his own film hits the big screen on July 27th, 2018.
