America’s AMC network – home of such heavy hitters as THE WALKING DEAD, BREAKING BAD, and MAD MEN – have today officially greenlit SECRET STASH, a reality show centred around Kevin Smith’s New Jersey-based comic book ‘Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash’, for a 6 episode season.

The show will revolve around the day-to-day goings-on at the store – exploring the lives of its employees (including Walt Flanagan and Bryan Johnson, two thirds of the hit podcast TELL ‘EM STEVE DAVE), its customers, and the surrounding community.

AMC’s Joel Stillerman said, “The comic book store is, in many ways, the corner bar for comic book fans. It is still this place where everybody knows your name, and you can go and geek out with like minded people. If I lived closer, I’d want to hang out at here.”

While Kevin Smith, who executive produces, issued his own statement, “Draper. Meth. Zombies. This show couldn’t be on a better network. AMC is to television what Miramax was to cinema back when I first got in the game: they’re the premier destination for any story-teller looking to spin an offbeat yarn that no other outlet has the stones to touch.”

AMC have scheduled the launch of the series for early 2012. Here’s hoping a UK channel picks this up soon.
