Some actor dude called Johnny Depp has acquired the rights to Image Comics’ THE VAULT, with an eye to adapt the sci-fi property for the big screen. The comic-book – which made its debut a mere two weeks ago – tells the tale of a group of Deep Sea Divers who accidentally unleash an ancient evil while faffing around with some ancient tomb.

No word whether Depp is intending to star, but he will produce alongside Graham King and the property’s writer Sam Starker.

I’ve asked around the office and nobody’s had the chance to nip out and buy this yet, let alone read it, so we wish we could tell you this will make a cracking flick should it hit the multiplexes – but judging by the nifty concept and spooky artwork below, you can colour us intrigued.

Thinking about it, even if THE VAULT stinks, at least it’ll keep Depp busy enough to stay away from further PIRATES flicks for a year or two! So let’s all actively champion this one regardless, ok? Cool.

Issue 1 is available at your local comic store now, with issue 2 hitting in September.

Anybody read this? Let us know whether it’s worthy of a motion picture! Should Johnny star? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
