Sure, we’ve had our fair share of rumours regarding Bond 23 – will it be called Carte Blanche, or Skyfall? Will Blofeld return? Will Katie Price and her Blofelds appear in a Bond girl role?* – but concrete details are still surprisingly thin on the ground considering it’s only a year away until release.

Well, all that changes today will our first confirmed piece of information courtesy of actor Javier Bardem (that creepy bloke with the pressure gun and the bad haircut in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN). Gabbing with America’s ABC Nightline, Bardem no doubt upset his producers by revealing he will indeed be playing a villain:

“I am very excited, my parents took me to watch the movies, and I saw all of them, so to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”

So there we go. Not a huge reveal but it’s hard to imagine any Bond fans having an issue with the casting of this solid actor. Though he’s got a lot to answer for for appearing in EAT PRAY LOVE.
