That most ubiquitous of studios Lionsgate have landed the lead for their upcoming adaptation of actor-turned writer Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel I, FRANKENSTEIN, with THE DARK KNIGHT’s Aaron Eckhart set to play the titular monster.

Look at him – he’s well excited! Bless.

Grevioux (who will be familiar to many Starburst readers as the character of Raze in the UNDERWORLD series) created the comicbook in 2009, where it was optioned even before the first issue hit the shelves. The story sees Frankenstein’s monster – here known as Adam – transported into a film noir type setting where he works as a P.I. (and Dracula’s a crime kingpin natch).

Stuart Beattie (TOMORROW, WHEN THE WAR BEGAN) will direct from a screenplay from Grevioux himself.

I, FRANKENSTEIN will lumber its way into cinemas February 2013.
