You know what we haven’t seen in a while? A vampire movie. Well, thankfully Sony Pictures are here to fix that, with the announcement that we’re all invited to check into HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA next year.

In all seriousness, this actually sounds like an interesting project. A CG animated family horror flick that tells the tale of Simon Van Helsing, a monster hunter who falls in love with a young woman only to discover she’s the daughter of Dracula himself. Uh-oh!

Attached so far are Adam Sandler as the voice of Dracula, Kevin James as Frankenstein, Fran Drescher (“Bobbi Flekmaaaan”) as his Bride, and David Spade as Quasimodo. Others providing their voice talents will be Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg and musician Cee Lo Green.

Okay, so Sandler and his usual Happy Madison cohorts might not be cause for much celebration, but the next name makes us very happy indeed… Genndy Tartakovsky – the genius being such animated classics as DEXTER’S LABORATORY, THE POWERPUFF GIRLS, SAMURAI JACK, and the original incarnation of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS – will make his feature film debut as director. Brill.

Sony Pictures will release HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA in September 2012.
