UPDATED:
Called it! Seems Naomi Harris will be cast in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Bond movie after all – but not just any ol’ Bond girl, the Bond girl. As in Miss Moneypenny herself.
Others also rumoured to be joining Daniel Craig and co are Javier Bardem (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN) and Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldermort), though there’s no confirmation on who they will be playing as of yet.

With the 23rd(!) entry into the JAMES BOND franchise now finally a ‘go picture’ over at MGM, it’s time for the tabloids to start their usual bullsh*t Bond girl rumour mill…
So why bother reporting on it then? Ah, well, because this name seems faaaaar more likely than their usual set of candidates – ordinarily they’ll rehash the same tired old names, no matter how absurd. Over the years we’ve had Victoria Beckham; Katie Price; Lady GaGa; Kerry Katona *shudder*, basically anybody on their current payroll who happens to have a pair of breasts.
Okay, so who is it then? And why should we believe them? Because this actress is barely on a Red Top’s radar. Why? Because she’s an actual talent too busy working for a living to require expensive PR spin-doctors to desperately keep her in the press…
Step forward NAOMI HARRIS, she of the excellent 28 DAYS LATER and (ok, considerably less excellent but she was still dead good) PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN: AT WORLD’S END.
Interesting. Unlike some recent Bond girls, Miss Harris has not only got the looks, she’s got the sass, and, most importantly, she can act.

AMERICAN BEAUTY director Sam Mendes will release his vision of BOND here in the UK on October 26th next year, followed by the rest of the world on November 9th. We can only hope it’s better than the bloody awful QUANTUM OF SOLACE. At least get somebody to hold the camera steady this time.
