Here’s our first look at GATTACA director Andrew Niccol’s return
to the sci-fi genre with IN TIME, and it doesn’t get more high concept than
this. Here’s the rub – in the future we stop aging at 25 (somehow) and the
countdown to our demise in one year is displayed on your arm (somehow). You
can earn more time (somehow) by… oh, forget it. I’ve already sat through this
extended trailer below and I’m still none the wiser. I just know the idea boils
down to: “Time Is Money”. And if they haven’t already cued that up
for the marketing campaign, then shame on them.

As head-scratching as the premise may be, I must say I’m quite
looking forward to this. The cast is great (yep, I’ll admit it, Timberland’s finally won me
over) and Niccol’s scripts have been consistently smart (TRUMAN SHOW; GATTACA), and even when they mis-fire (S1M0NE), always remain interesting.
IN TIME hits UK cinemas this November.
