After months of being drip-fed drab promo photos of Jennifer Lawrence squatting in a forest and uninspired posters featuring nothing but the logo, the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of THE HUNGER GAMES finally gets its first trailer. Featuring drab footage of Lawrence walking through a forest and the film’s logo. Oh.

Check this out to see what MTV have been promoting for the last month (it finally aired during this weekend’s VMA Awards telecast)…

Sorry Lionsgate, that there’s some weak sauce. If this movie’s going to kick start a franchise worthy of delivering TWILIGHT-sized bank, then you need to get the audiences who ‘aren’t’ already familiar with Suzanne Collins series of books excited for it. Case in point – I’ve still never met anybody who’s read a single one.

And I stand by the fact this still appears to be a BATTLE ROYALE rip-off, honestly hoping that it can prove me wrong.

THE HUNGER GAMES is released March 2012, with sequel CATCHING FIRE already pencilled in for November 2013.
