Sure, there’s been way too many movies jumping on the ‘Found Footage’ bandwagon over the last few years – it gives indie filmmakers the perfect ‘out’ in the sense that there’s no better way to justify the fact they’ve got sod all budget – but when the format is handled right, it can give audiences something really special. Think CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, CLOVERFIELD, , and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. But forget DIARY OF THE DEAD (sorry George), QUARANTINE (whyyyy?!), PARANOMAL ENTITY (still not worth a quid), and APOLLO 18 (full disclosure: not seen it yet, planning on catching it on DVD, but you get my drift – most folks think it’s balls).

What’s refreshing about CHRONICLE is that for the first time we’re not going the horror route – this is a tale chronicling the adventures of three high school teenagers who develop superhuman powers after– well, it’s only hinted at in the following trailer so we’ll refrain from spoiling it here.

CHRONICLE not only comes from the mind of Max Landis, son of John, but also has the weight of 20th Century Fox behind it, so this is going to be one to watch out for. Trust us, if you’re not convinced yet, you will be after watching the trailer below. Enjoy.

CHRONICLE currently awaits a UK release date, but all you lucky Stateside folk can expect it to hit Feb 3rd 2012
