Thought we were done with all the WONDER WOMAN talk now the TV show failed to even get past the pilot stage? Yeah. So did we.

Director of the upcoming action drama DRIVE (and the acclaimed PUSHER trilogy) Nicolas Winding Refn has been hankering after the DC property for a long while now, and it seems he’s not given up hope despite the disaster that was the last incarnation. Talking with New York Magazine at the DRIVE premiere, he revealed that he’s very much still interested in the property and that his ideal Diana Prince would be MAD MEN star (and one of DRIVE’s leading ladies) Christina Hendricks…

Yeah, so it’s pretty unlikely that Warner Bros will be keen to get right back on the WW horse so soon after all the fanboy furor surrounding David E. Kelly’s version, but come on, let the guy dream. As for the studio approving his casting choice… it’s sad to say, but as great an actress as Hendricks might be, he’d have a heck of a fight on his hands given Hollywood’s proclivity for stick-thin starlets. Hell, they’d probably go for the universally derided January Drones over Hendricks.

Don’t know about you readers, but I personally hope Ryne is successful in his quest. Hendricks is a great choice and it sounds like the director’s got passion in spades, plus a better handle on the property than his predecessor – “The whole idea of a woman who is basically more powerful than any man — and who will always be that, and comes from a society of women who are more powerful than men — is an interesting theme that I think can be very contemporary.” The Amazonian warrior might just make it to our screens after all.

Let the WONDER WOMAN casting rumours commence!!! Or not. Suit yourselves.

What’s DRIVE? Good question. Here’s a clip…
