In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War’s cinema run, directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed that the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II were to undergo a name change before they hit the big screen. Well now comes an update of sorts on that front.

Walt Disney Pictures has moved to confirm that the first of these movies will still just be known as Avengers: Infinity War, whilst the second film will get a complete new subtitle and is currently just being officially referred to as Untitled Avengers Film.

The first of these movies is set to start production in November of this year, with the current plan being to shoot both films back-to-back. As mentioned, Anthony and Joe Russo will be helming the two films. The Russos have wowed audiences with their previous Marvel Cinematic Universe efforts, as the pair directed the massively popular Captain America: The Winter Soldier and this year’s most successful movie to date, Captain America: Civil War.

Very little is known about Infinity War or its follow-up, but a large focus of these movies will see Thanos finally step out of the shadows to tangle with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s not yet known just which members of The Avengers will be present in either of these films, but, as ever, it’s expected that we’ll be getting a packed roster. Additionally, the recently-cast Brie Larson will debut in Infinity War as Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.

At present, Avengers: Infinity War is set for a May 4th, 2018 release, whilst the other Avengers-driven movie will arrive on May 3rd, 2019.
