To many of us, one of next year’s most hotly-anticipated TV treats is the Tales From the Crypt revival that M. Night Shyamalan is developing for TNT. Well now comes an update on that upcoming series.

So far, all that we know is that this new take on an old favourite will be a ten-episode anthology effort with a new Crypt Keeper at the helm. Now though, Shyamalan has been discussing just how much this new show will pull from the classic EC Comics stories of yesteryear.

Speaking to Crave Online, Shyamalan confirmed that the classic comics as well as EC’s Vault of Horror tales are open for being adapted. The writer/director explained, “There’s a bunch. I have a folder of my favourites, like my twenty or thirty favourites. I’m trying to remember them. I mean, they’re so weird. There’s on where there’s a bewitching one, where an old lady bewitches and takes the wife, and the husband has to figure it out. He keeps the old lady in the closet, but that’s really his wife now. They’ve swapped, you know? And he can’t kill this woman but she’s not a beautiful woman.”

This new Tales From the Crypt will be part of a new block of horror shows for the TNT network, with the series to air late next year alongside Time of Death, Creatures and some horror shorts.
