Following on from speculation last week, the title of the new Spider-Man movie has been officially revealed, and yes, it is indeed what we expected.

After Sony Pictures registered the slightly-lengthy SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com, the studio used Las Vegas’ CinemaCon 2016 to confirm that the new Spidey offering will be called Spider-Man Homecoming. Sony will be producing the movie along with Marvel Studios.

Having attended the Captain America: Civil War premiere, Tom Holland, the MCU’s Wallcrawler, flew over to CinemaCon to be a part of this reveal. On the title, the actor said, “It really is a homecoming because, throughout the movie, Peter is trying to find out who he is and where he belongs in the world.”

With Holland’s Webhead making his Marvel Cinematic Universe bow in Civil War, Marvel’s Kevin Feige this week teased that other MCU heroes will be appearing in the now-titled Spider-Man Homecoming. At this stage, it’s not known exactly who that will be, with obviously a lot to play out in Civil War. Also joining Holland’s Peter Parker in Homecoming will be Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as a female lead known as Michelle.

To be directed by Cop Car’s Jon Watts, Spider-Man Homecoming is set for a July 7th, 2017 release. Before that, Captain America: Civil War hits UK screens on April 29th.
