In the wee hours of this morning, 20th Century Fox announced that they’d broken the global box office record by grossing an impressive $5.5 billion last year. In the same breath, the studio announced new release dates for several of their already-confirmed movies.

First up, Channing Tatum’s GAMBIT has been set for an October 7th, 2016 release. And for those of you (which includes pretty much 90% of us here at STARBURST) who are just a tad trepidatious when it comes to Josh Frank’s FANTASTIC FOUR redo, a sequel to that film has been brought forward from its initially planned release date. At first set for a July 14th, 2017 release, FF2 will hit screens on June 2nd, 2017. Another genre film affected in this announcement is the follow-up to last year’s brilliant DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, which has been pushed back to July 14th, 2017. Elsewhere, the long-discussed ASSASSIN’S CREED movie that has Michael Fassbender attached has been given a December 21st, 2016 release.

Expect more on these projects as they develop.
