Looking forward to the sequel to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla? Well, unfortunately, you’ll have to wait just a little longer to see the King of the Monsters back on the big screen.

As part of a schedule rejig by Legendary and Warner Brothers, Edwards’ Godzilla 2 has been pushed back from its June 8th, 2018 release date. Instead, the sequel will now arrive nine months later on March 22nd, 2019. Additionally, the hotly-anticipated Godzilla vs Kong has been confirmed for May 29th, 2020, which will see it open alongside Paramount’s animated Amusement Park.

Before either of these films arrive, though, fans will be able to revisit the shared movie realm of Godzilla and King Kong when Kong: Skull Island is released on March 10th, 2017. That film will feature the impressive cast of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Toby Kebbell, and John C. Really, and will lay the initial foundations for the upcoming battle between two of cinemas most beloved behemoths.

Edwards’ Godzilla was a highly promising return from the wilderness for Godzilla, and if lessons can’t be learnt from that going forward with Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla 2, and Godzilla vs Kong then moviegoers could be in for a treat over the next few years.
