As X-Men: Apocalypse gets set to hit the big screen next month, some details are coming out on the upcoming X-spinoff, New Mutants.

Hitfix is reporting on some casting news for the movie, with some new names amongst some returning faces. In terms of returns, Alexandra Shipp, who will debut as Storm in Apocalypse, is believed to be involved, as is James McAvoy as Charles Xavier. As for the new additions, the outlet is reporting that Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy have landed roles in the film, with Williams set to play Wolfsbane and Taylor-Joy to play Magick. Additionally, the film will also feature Cannonball, Mirage, and Sunspot, with it believed that Adan Canto could reprise the Sunspot role he played in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Longtime comic book fans will be familiar with all of these characters, but for those not fully up to speed, Wolfsbane is a Scottish mutant who has the ability to turn into an actual wolf. As for Magick, that’s a character who’s the sister of the X-Men’s Colossus and is a sorcerer who can teleport.

The Fault in Our Stars’ Josh Boone will be directing New Mutants.

This is all unofficial at this stage, although, as ever, expect more on all of this as and when it develops.
