With the original Knight Rider series cruising to Blu-ray next month, now comes word that another new take on this fan favourite property is on the way.

Machinima has announced that they’ll be partnering with YouOffendMeYouOffendMyFamily, NBC Universal and Justin Lin to develop a new Knight Rider series.

On this news, Machinima’s Chad Gutstein said, “Knight Rider is an iconic franchise whose concepts of AI and autonomous vehicles were science fiction in the 1980s and are now science fact. Justin is one of the leading storytellers of this generation and we couldn’t be more excited to work with him on re-invigorating Knight Rider for a new generation of fans.”

Of course, many remember the car-crash reboot of Knight Rider that surfaced in 2008, and before that there was the ill-fated Knight Rider 2000 that was just a vehicle to continue the series in some way.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
