The Flash is gearing up to speed back to screens later this year, and the Scarlet Speedster show has added a new hero and villain to its ranks.

For Season 2, we’ll be getting familiar DC faces in the form of Jesse Quick and Tokamak. Cast as Jesse, a female speedster who’s the daughter of the Golden Age Johnny Quick, is newcomer Violett Beane. TV Line reports that the show’s take on the character describes her as “a brilliant but quirky college student who gets caught up in the battle between The Flash and Season 2’s big bad, Zoom.”

As for Henry Hewitt, aka the villainous Tokamak, Comic Book reports that 12 Monkeys and Hemlock Grove’s Demore Barnes has been cast in the role. Comic book-wise, Tokamak is a rogue who absorbs energy and likes to get involved in serious business dealings. For The Flash, the character has been described as “a charming but cocky scientist who was affected by the same particle accelerator explosion that created The Flash. When Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) recruits him to join the team at S.T.A.R. Labs, Hewitt jumps at the opportunity to fulfil his destiny as a powerful meta-human.”

In additional news, Malese Jow has also been confirmed to be returned as one-time Barry Allen love interest Linda Park. You know, the female that seemed like a far better option for Barry than the sour-faced and demanding Iris West during Season 1.

The official word on The Flash’s second season reads:

Following the defeat of Barry Allen’s arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?

The Flash returns to US screens on October 6th, with a UK return expected to return shortly after.
