The topic of a third GHOSTBUSTERS movie has been getting quite a lot of attention lately, with a relaunching of the series finally happening. Now comes confirmation, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, that the film will indeed be a reboot of the iconic franchise. Additionally, THE HEAT’s Katie Dippold will be penning the script for the film, which will be directed by BRIDESMAIDS’ Paul Feig.

Feig took to his Twitter page, revealing, “It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters and writing it with Katie Dippold. And yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”

Rumour suggested that this new GHOSTBUSTERS would feature an all-female team at the centre of the story, and that now confirms it. It’s said that the film is to be considered a reboot of the series and will not be connected to the previous GHOSTBUSTERS films at all. That said, it’s still believed that some members of the original movies may make cameo appearances in this upcoming film.

Expect more on this as it develops.
