Never been a fan of Guy Ritchie’s movies personally, but after seeing – and loving – his SHERLOCK HOLMES reboot in 2009 I revised my opinion. It was always his writing that had bothered me* – his needlessly convoluted, repetitive storylines populated by characters there only to dispense his smug, overwritten dialogue detracted from a unique, striking visual style. With Ritchie stepping down from screenwriting duties on this franchise, it’s seemingly making all the difference. Anyway, have a look at the first trailer for SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS and see what you think…

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS opens worldwide in December.

* Never more so than in the hilariously pretentious REVOLVER. What could it all possibly mean?! Listen to the train-wreck of a commentary track to hear Ritchie struggling to pretend he understands his own screenplay. Trust me, it’s funny stuff!

What did you guys think of the trailer? Am I being too harsh on Ritchie’s past movies? Let us know with your comments below!
