With Oliver Queen set to don a new outfit for Season 4 of Arrow, not to mention the possibility of a name change to Green Arrow, some further details are coming out on the show’s fourth season.

Firstly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim took to Twitter to reveal that production is now under way on Season 4 as of yesterday. The first episode of the new season has been put together by Greg Berlanti, Beth Schwartz and Wendy Mericle, with Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ Thor Freudenthal to direct. Oh, and the title of this first episode will indeed be Green Arrow.

Additionally, San Diego Comic-Con saw it revealed that two new DC characters are set to join the action in Season 4. They would be Batman villain Anarky and Justice Society alum Mr. Terrific; Anarky is better known as Lonnie Machin, a child genius with a penchant for revolutionary action; whereas Mr. Terrific is a moniker taken on by two men, Terry Sloane and Michael Holt, with Sloane’s powers being that he’s generally just amazing at anything a human can do and Holt’s powers being pretty much the same but with nanotechnology as an added bonus. It’s not confirmed which version of Mr. Terrific will appear in Arrow, but it’s believed to be Michael Holt. Whichever version it is, he’ll be working closely with Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak.

In further Arrow news, David Ramsay’s Diggle is finally to get a costume of his own. Concept art was shown at San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s sadly not the Green Lantern ensemble that some were pulling for. Instead, Digg’s new duds have been described as all-black and with a helmet of sorts that covers half of his face, prompting some to speculate that he may become the show’s version of DC’s Guardian; a comic book character who is a cop-turned-protector and somebody who has ties to Roy Harper, “Wildcat” Ted Grant and The Atom – all characters who have appeared in Arrow.

One other point of interest is confirmation of another development that many had predicted. Thea Queen is officially going to be a part of Team Arrow and will, of course, be known as Speedy.

Arrow returns to US screens on October 7th, with a UK return expected to follow shortly after. Plot-wise, the Emerald Archer will spend the majority of the season tangling with new ‘big bad’ Damien Darhk, to be played by Neal McDonough.
