One of most eagerly anticipated elements of next year’s Avengers: Infinity War is seeing the cinematic debut of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Well, Marvel’s Kevin Feige has moved to give a little bit of an update on what to expect from this fan favourite character’s upcoming solo picture.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, Feige has given some new details on 2019’s Captain Marvel. Firstly, he confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson will be back as a two-eyed Nick Fury. Yes, as in Fury’s famed eyepatch will not be present in that picture. Why’s that? Well, that’s because the film is going to be set in the ‘90s; a time when Fury still had both of his eyes. In addition to this, the ‘big bad’ of the movie will be the nefarious alien menace of the Skrulls.

For those not familiar with Danvers, she debuted back in 1968, initially a member of the US air force before later becoming Ms. Marvel in 1977 following a previous tangle with explosive Kree technology. In 2012, Danvers was given a “promotion” to the mantle of Captain Marvel. As part of her powers, she’s able to project and absorb energy as well as having the usual superhuman strength and speed not to mention the ability to fly.

To be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel is booked in for a March 8th, 2019 release. Before that, as mentioned, Larson’s Danvers will make her big-screen bow in next May’s Avengers: Infinity War.
