The long-mooted big screen reboot of Battlestar Galactica has seen some movement, with Lisa Joy having been brought in to work on the film’s screenplay.

EW broke the news, with the Westworld reboot’s Joy having brought in to turn out a script for this new cinematic take on Glen A. Larson’s iconic 1978 series. Additionally, the outlet is also reporting that The Hunger Games’ Francis Lawrence may have some interest in directing this new Battlestar Galactica.

The original sci-fi series centred on the solo warship known as the Galactica in the aftermath of the millennia-long battle against the no-good Cylons. Galactica: 1980 would follow in, err, 1980, and then a hugely well-received TV redo of the original turned up in 2004. That reboot subsequently led to Caprica and Blood & Chrome.

Bryan Singer was at one point in the frame to direct this new take on Battlestar Galactica but that now seems to be out of the question.

With Lisa Joy now on board to pen this latest redo of a beloved property, expect to hear more as and when things develop.
