Having been in development for a little while now, NBC has confirmed that Powerless has been picked up for a full series order.

The show itself is a 30-minute comedy show set in the DC world. The basic premise centres on an insurance company that have to deal with the aftermath of the chaos, carnage and destruction caused by DC’s superheroes and villains.

To be a little more official, here’s the blurb from NBC on the series:

In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens (“Grease Live,” “High School Musical”) play Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figure (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right… even if it’s just to her group of loveable quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.

As well as Hudgens, Powerless will also star Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi and Christina Kirk. Michael Patrick will be directing the pilot and serving as executive producer, whilst Ben Queen has penned the pilot and will also act as executive producer.

The show will air as part of NBC’s 2016-2017 season of TV.
