We’ve all been kind of expecting it, but Constantine is now dead. Kind of.

Whilst fans were largely impressed with the Matt Ryan-starrer, NBC was not so keen. As a result, the network has now made the decision to officially cancel the show. Fear not, though, for there may still be some hope of seeing John Constantine turn up elsewhere.

Taking to Twitter, executive producer Daniel Cerone said, “NBC a “no” for Season 2. Warner Bros working hard to find #Constantine new home. Stay active. Stream. Tweet. #SaveConstantine #Hellblazers”

So whilst NBC have scrapped the show from their plans, there’s still hopefully a home to be found elsewhere for Constantine in the future. We here at STARBURST were huge fans of the 13-episode run that the chain-smoking, supernatural detective was given, so here’s hoping that another network takes a chance on the show.

One stumbling block to finding a new home could be the cost of producing the episodes, with them all lathered in heavy SFX work. Still, a more basic, character-driven Constantine could work just as well if handled correctly.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
