Many have presumed this to be the case, but Natalie Portman has now moved to confirm that she is indeed “done” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, for now at least.

Given how Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie has been confirmed as a love interest for Chris Hemsworth’s Thunder God in Thor: Ragnarok, many were speculating whether Portman’s Jane Foster would be turning up again at any point. Seemingly not, with the actress telling The Wall Street Journal, “As far as I know, I’m done. I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever, I have no idea. But as far as I know, I’m done.”

Portman appeared as Jane in the first two Thor movies, and the character was also referenced in both Avengers Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios and Disney likely hold all of the cards here, with so many of their contracts being multi-picture deals where they call the shots on if and when they bring back a talent. Whether Portman is still tied to a contract, though, is unknown. Additionally, the MCU could still bring back Jane Foster at a later date but just without Portman. After all, Don Cheadle replaced Terrance Howard as James Rhodes after Iron Man, and Mark Ruffalo took over the Bruce Banner gig from Ed Norton after The Incredible Hulk.

In the meantime, Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
