Whilst the exact plot details of the next FRIDAY THE 13TH movie are a little sketchy at this time, it’s been revealed that Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, will feature in the next installment of the long-running franchise.

Speaking to Omelete about what will feature in the new film, producer Brad Fuller revealed, “Sex, drugs, beautiful people dying – these things do not change. And we can develop a more problematic relationship with the mother.”

When asked about whether the next film will be R-rated, Fuller added, “There is no PG-13 in the world of Jason Voorhees.”

Mrs. Voorhees was originally played by Betsy Palmer in the 1980 original movie, although Paula Shaw took on the role in FREDDY VS JASON and Nana Visitor played the role in the 2009 FRIDAY THE 13TH remake.

It’s believed that the new film will not be a remake or a sequel, instead an entirely different movie set in the 1980s. Regular stories suggest that the film may take on a ‘found footage’ style, although that’s not been confirmed at this stage.

To be directed by V/H/S’ David Bruckner, the next installment in the FRIDAY THE 13TH series was initially planned for a November 13th, 2015 release, but it now appears that the film may see a later release.
