Promisingly described by Stephen King as “nothing short of brilliant”, Netflix’s film adaptation of Mr. Harrigan’s Phone will be making its way to the platform in time for the commencement of Spooky Season. Ahead of its release, the streamer has released an official trailer for the feature.

Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is an adaptation of one of the stories featured in King’s recent four-novella collection, If It Bleeds. The upcoming film comes from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy and Blumhouse, with John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks, The Little Things) as writer and director.

Per the logline, when Craig, a young boy living in a small town (Jaeden Martell, It, Knives Out) befriends Mr. Harrigan, an older, reclusive billionaire (Donald Sutherland), the two begin to form an unlikely bond over their love of books and reading. But when Mr. Harrigan sadly passes away, Craig discovers that not everything is dead and gone and strangely finds himself able to communicate with his friend from the grave through the iPhone in this supernatural coming-of-age story that shows that certain connections are never lost.

Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Joe Tippett, Cyrus Arnold, Colin O’Brien, Thomas Francis Murphy, and Peggy J. Scott also star.
