With the recent confirmation of Ray Fisher to play Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, in Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel, fans were beginning to think that maybe the movie was starting to resemble a Justice League-lite affair. Fisher joins Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Well now comes word that Snyder is indeed going to be directing JUSTICE LEAGUE, which will follow the MAN OF STEEL sequel and will be shot back-to-back with the Superman-centric follow-up.

On the JL movie, Warner Brothers President of Worldwide Production Greg Silverman said, “It will be a further expansion of this universe. SUPERMAN VS BATMAN will lead into JUSTICE LEAGUE.”

The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit has chipped in on Twitter, saying, “Yes, Zack Snyder will direct JUSTICE LEAGUE. Yes it will shoot back to back. Likely release date: 2017. Likely announcement: Comic Con.”

A Justice League movie has been more-or-less a go for a while now, although nothing had been confirmed until this point. Who else joins the JL is still up for debate. Surely there will be a Green Lantern in there, but will it will be Hal Jordon, John Stewart or Kyle Rayner? And then there’s The Flash. Could Grant Gustin’s small screen Barry Allen make the progression to the big screen if The CW’s THE FLASH does well? Then there’s the constant speculation of Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen being included in a cinematic Justice League team. Martin Manhunter and Aquaman are also names that have regularly been discussed in terms of a Justice League movie, and the other possibilities are plentiful.

At present, Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL sequel is set to go head-to-head with CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 on 6th May, 2016, whilst JUSTICE LEAGUE is expected for 2017.
