With it being announced last week that KICK-ASS 2 writer/director Jeff Wadlow was going to be handling an X-Force movie for 20th Century Fox, Wadlow has given an update on where the film’s script is currently at.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, he said, “I’m pretty deep into it. I have the whole story completely worked out. I’m about 20 pages into my draft. If I wasn’t promoting Kick-Ass, I would probably have a draft already, but Kick-Ass is going to slow me down just a little.”

Wadlow was then asked about how important Cable will be to the story, “Here’s the thing, I love the current run of Uncanny X-Force. I love the classic run. Part of my take was addressing this idea that X-Force can be many different things, and that’s what got the studio excited. I think the fans will be excited, too.”

A more military type team that is often used to as an alternative to the X-Men team, X-Force has been made up of various characters over the years. Cable is generally seen as the leader of the team, with the likes of Domino, Warpath, Cannonball and Deadpool regular members. The team has also had more familiar X-faces, such as Wolverine, Psylocke, and Colossus, join their ranks at times.

It’s expected that the film may tie into Fox’s upcoming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST somehow.
