Both THE WOLVERINE‘s director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman have confirmed that they’re planning a third solo outing for Logan, although not too much is known on the direction of any future film. Only last week, Jackman claimed that they’ve got some “really cool ideas” but that they wouldn’t push forward on a new film until the they felt they had the right story in place. Now, director Mangold has been talking aboutwhat they’re thinking in terms of plot.

When asked by I Am Rogue about whether a third Wolverine film would be based on an existing comic book arc, Mangold revealed, “Absolutely. I can tell you that, in determining where we are going, I’m not solely relying on my own imagination, but also the imaginations that have spun great stories about Wolverine in the comics.”

Mangold didn’t reveal what possible comic book stories he’s considering, but I guess we’ll maybe get a better idea after X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits next year.

Personally, we’d love to see something like OLD MAN LOGAN, but that’s highly, highly unlikely.
