Having been batted back and forth between directors for some time, the future of a film set in Azeroth was in question. Between apparent background problems from Sam Raimi’s statements to the traditional issues with video game films, the long delays put the future of the film in doubt. Now however, it seems that we will actually be getting a WoW film at long last after all.

Announced on the World of Warcraft Twitter account, it seems that the film will be hitting theatres at December the 18th 2015. With Legendary Pictures involved, Duncan Jones of Moon and Source Code fame directing and potentially several famous faces taking roles, things do look promising from this initial outset. While still very early stages, with not even a trailer to look at, at least fans of the franchise now know they have a date to look forwards to.

Shooting for the film has been alleged to begin in January of this year, but beyond this information Blizzard is keeping a tight lid on any future news.
