Following yesterday’s announcement that the first nine minutes of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS will be previewed exclusively with the IMAX version of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, Trekmovie.com has revealed (confirmed by co-writer/producer Damon Lindelof) that the first trailer for the film will be shown before the regular, non IMAX version of the film.

Unlike the IMAX preview, which will feature the opening of STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, the trailer will features footage from throughout the film, and will be shown prior to other films (especially Paramount’s JACK REACHER) as well as being available to view online following it’s release. It will not, however, be shown alongside the extended preview showing with the IMAX version of THE HOBBIT.

The IMAX footage is exclusive to screenings of THE HOBBIT and will not be available elsewhere prior to the film’s release.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is released on 13th December (U.K.) and 14th December (U.S.)
